Long time, No Blog

It has been a long time. Dave and I have been in Iowa for 20 months. I miss the hell out of Cali but I am grateful for Dave's awesome work benefits. They cover weight loss surgery and I will be having Roux N Y (aka gastric bypass) on Tuesday August 14th. There is so much more I need to cover, but that has to wait

A bad case of uterine jihad

Yup, Aunt Flo is here and brought her crampy children, hence the case of uterine jihad.
I downloaded the new Duran Duran CD onto iTunes and just updated my iPod. I am definitely going to have to see them next time they come around. I am still hoping for James Blunt and James Morrison to come a-touring. I have quite a choice of Midwest venues I am willing to travel to. Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Omaha, and Kansas City to name a few
Had snow this morning. About 3 inches had come down and it was lightly snowing. Despite the uterine jihad, I managed to get out and shovel and salt. I am hoping the uterine jihad eases up and the roads are clear enough for me to go to pilates tonight

BITCH PLEASE! aka My Vera Bradley retailer vent

We don't have a Vera Bradley sig store in the area (the closest ones are either in Milwaukee area or the Chicago area). Damn I miss having 3 within less than an hour and a half drive in California (or a Bart ride).

I originally was in the mall to try a new nail place--my second time getting my nails done since moving here. I usually do gels with glitter tips. Since this first place had glitter tips, I decided to try them out. Also they were less than 5 minutes from my house. To make a really long story short, I did NOT like them or the way they did my nails. So, I went to try the place in the mall (more on that later)

The Vera retailer was right across the hall from the nail place. I walk in and slip and damn near fell. The stupid salesperson is chatting on the phone and I am mouthing "wet floor! I almost fell!"

She said, "I just mopped there"

How about putting a WET FLOOR cone there you dumb bitch! Had I fallen, I would fucking sue your ass for all the Vera you had in your store.

So I ask another sales lady about the retired items and the sale. She excitedly told me the retired patterns for 25% off (they had java blue and totally turquoise). Bitch please! On Vera Bradley.com, they were 40% off. HELLO!
Whatever! (more on another retailer in a minute)**
I asked her about when the new patterns were coming. She had no idea that new patterns were coming or what they were. Listen honey, if Vera Bradley allows you to sell their bags, know your damn product!

**the Hallmark store at Coralville Mall had their Vera for 30% off but since Java Blue is a popular pattern, they were going to keep it full price. Let me go in there and see someone looking at Java Blue, I will walk up to them and tell them it is on sale at Vera Bradley.com. If the damn pattern is retiring, ALL returning patterns should be on sale

The new nail place. No glitter tips, but the lady (Kathy) was nice and did a good job. Let me say I miss my nail guy in California. Kevin, please come to Iowa

Sundays and whipped cream vodka

Yeah, that should be the title for a journal. I had some orange juice with some whipped cream flavored vodka. I am going to try a different mixer next time. I love OJ and Vodka but NOT OJ and whipped cream vodka.
I made up for my lazy day today (I think). Quite a few people have told me about the food co-op in Coralville. I went there this morning. I almost walked out thinking it was a glorified whole foods (which we don't have here). Then I hit the fish counter. The meats and seafood is SO much better quality than the grocery stores in the area. It might cost a little more, but it is worth it. And I found Dover sole. WOO HOO. I bought the sole and Dave some oysters (I hate them). I was happy to see they had an olive bar. I miss the olive bars at Safeway in California.

So the verdict: if I can't get to Trader Joes, the co-op will work in a pinch. I dunno if it is worth getting a membership or not, the verdict is still out on that

I then went to the nail salon in the mall. I wasn't too keen about how the very first nail place here did my nails--I wanted to slap the bitch. I liked that they had glitter tips but if you are not going to do it how I want them done, I will take my business elsewhere. The mall doesn't do gel glitter tips so I just got a fill, polish (OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark) and a design on 2 fingers.

I came home and listed some of my Vera bags on ebay--remind me to do a bitchfest journal post about the Vera retailer in this area. The new collection is coming out and I want to get some money to possibly buy some of the new collection without dipping into the bank account. I am also going to use some of the funds to upgrade my LJ account

Watched a little football. Green Bay beat the Eagles in their own back yard. That is tough to do because those Philly fans are PSYCHO. I experienced that shit first hand. Now since Seattle will be playing Chicago at Soldier Field, he is gonna try to get some tickets for the game--Chicago is a 4 hour drive away

Had some of the sole for dinner. The fish was so fresh, it needed to be slapped. Dave is going to dig into the oysters sometime tonight--I think.

Lazy days are great--don't judge me!

Yep, I had one of those days.
Yesterday morning, I took Thelma and Lulu in for a long overdue nail trim. Stopped at Starbucks
Came home and went to bed :) Dave and I spent the day in bed (mind out the gutter, there was no headboard shuffling going on)
Slept until 2PM or so. Stayed in bed, watched some Law and Order UK that was on my DVR, slept, read some Law and Order UK fan fiction from some awesome writers, slept and watched the Seahawks game. I went out and got take away for dinner (Culver's). Their chicken is so good. I almost felt bad being in bed all day. I am SO not going to feel guilty about my lazy day

I really overdid it in food today. I didn't exercise like I was supposed to. I will make up for it by exercising on Wednesday (which was supposed to be a rest day. I am determined to get all my water down today
